Ian McCluskey, Artistic Director
Ian McCluskey is an award-winning documentary film director and the founding director of NW Documentary. His work has garnered more than a dozen prestigious awards, including four Emmys, and has been featured in international film festivals including Tribeca, London, and Clermont-Ferrand. His work has been broadcast in the US, Canada, and Europe. His films have also screened in major museums such as the Boston Museum of Fine Art and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. He studied Journalism at the University of Oregon, and creative writing at the University of Montana and Colorado College.
After working for Oregon Public Broadcasting (OPB), McCluskey founded NW Documentary to devote his life to telling untold stories and to mentor others to tell their own stories. Using today’s digital technology and borrowing from the traditions of photography, literary non-fiction, and documentary, his work reflects the people, place and personality of his native Northwest.

Chelsea Smith, Operations Manager
Chelsea helps run all aspects of NW Documentary; managing productions, building community partnerships, coordinating workshops and supporting the daily operational functions. She has a background in educational programming and volunteer management for international non-profits. She has a B.A. in Urban Studies from the University of Minnesota and has produced her own music and short films.
Megan Torgerson, Development Associate
Megan joined NW Documentary to help coordinate events for Voyagers Without Trace, and has continued to promote and distribute the film. She also assists with grant writing, in-kind contributions and donations, as well as marketing and outreach. Megan is passionate about youth access to the arts and interned for Caldera Arts. She has a B.A. in English with an emphasis in creative writing from the University of Montana and continues to write poetry and music.
