Indie Doc Incubator

Independent documentary filmmakers often work from home and face the challenge of separating their workspace from their personal space. They need a professional space to achieve their work, access to facilities, and an overall camaraderie of a shared workspace with like-minded professionals. NW Documentary’s Indie Doc Incubator serves as a hub for indie doc makers, giving them a creative environment to succeed in their work, be part of a community, and encourage creative thinking.

Our current Incubator resident is independent filmmaker and multimedia reporter Cornelius Swart. He has worked on staff at The Oregonian newspaper, KGW NewsChannel 8 and as Content Director for the online news website He is currently freelancing and working on a documentary film about gentrification in North Portland, Ore.

An investigative and personal look at how skyrocketing housing prices are displacing Portland’s black community and reshaping the entire city.
