We’re training and inspiring tomorrow’s documentary makers today. NW Documentary helps kids gain the skills and understanding to tell meaningful stories using today’s digital tools.
We offer two special programs just for youth ages 12-18.
Documentary Explorers Camp help connect kids with nature, by exploring the outdoors through the lens of documentary film making in our unique partnership with OMSI.
Recording Resilience helps kids who have suffered the tragic loss of a loved-one. Offered in partnership with the Dougy Center.
Students can also join any of our regular line-up of workshops. We have had two 8th graders each make their own short films through the DIY Documentary workshop. If a student has the commitment to learn the craft of documentary filmmaking, we’ll provide the mentorship.
To date, work created in our youth programs have screened in film festivals and earned three Regional Emmy Awards for excellence.
